Part I: Brief project description
The key problem that I would like to explore would be to look at how to improve students writing in the classroom. In our school improvement team we talked about why students struggle with writing and don’t understand how to answer topics they are given to write on. I have been looking into the positives of having the iPad in the classroom. The iPad is a great learning tool to have in the classroom, but also it is a great tool to help students in writing and encourage them to become more creative when writing. There are several different apps for the iPad that deal with writing in all grade levels. By having the iPad in your classroom would help improve students writing scores as well as encourage them to write more in class and at home. The iPad not only will help with students writing, but can also help in all core subject areas. It is a great tool to have in your classroom to use in a small or whole group setting. By incorporating the iPad in the classroom I could see the benefits it would have on helping students with improving on the MEAP as well. Some of the apps that are on on the iPad deal with basic concepts that are asked on the MEAP so this piece of technology would be very good at helping review concepts for some students and bringing in new concepts.
